Circa 1760-1775 Germanic Dragoon Pistol


These are real beauties! The pistol in the photos is browned, but we generally get these in a bright polished finish. These are $299 plus shipping.

14" barrel, 22 1/2" overall. Not for the squeamish...

Notice the distinctive Germanic style raised carving. Unlike the curvy lines of English carving, the German gunsmiths were all about angles.



Lock is banana shaped, Germanic in origin, with flat topped frizzen. There is no external bridle.

In this photo, you can also see the long, sectioned finial on the triggerguard. Also a very German design.


Note distinctive Germanic sideplate. This pistol is nearly identical to one shown in Neumann's "The History of Weapons of the American Revolution" (p.44 on page 194-195). See also 30.PP on pg. 261 in his Battle Weapons of the American Revolution
