          Here are our 1777 Pattern French Army musket. These are often incorrectly referred to as 1777 Charlevilles. full view

          Here is a view of the lock. They are marked "St Etienne", which was one of three arsenals that were building guns for the French military at this time. lock

          Here's the comb and wrist area. You can see the cutout in the comb which allows the shooter to put their eye right behind the barrel for better aim. Notice also the brass pan, which is placed at a 30 degree angle to the barrel so it will be level when the gun is held at the "prime" position. This was the most advanced musket of it's time. breech area

          Here's a close up of the muzzle. Note how the bayonet lug is underneath, instead of on top like British guns? There is a sight on the front barrel band. muzzle
